The Felixstowe Chamber of Trade and Commerce is delighted to announce that Carol Jones has joined its executive committee.
Ms Jones, who now owns and runs the independent gift shop Glyph in Felixstowe’s Hamilton Road, has lived and worked her entire life in the town.
Before opening her award winning shop back in 2005 she had worked from the age of 17 for various shipping firms in and around Felixstowe Docks.
With a 106 year old grandmother, who is reputedly the oldest survivor of the 1953 Felixstowe floods, and as a past student of Orwell High School Ms Jones has very deep roots in the town.
Ms Jones said: “I arrived at a time in my life when I wanted to work for myself and with a passion for keeping Felixstowe’s high street special and a desire to restore the old values of friendly, personal customer service back in to retail, I opened my shop Glyph”.
The Chamber’s Vice Chairman, Kelly Sayers of Prettys Solicitors said: “Hamilton Road clearly plays an important role in Felixstowe’s economy and is one of the focal points for visitors to the town.”
“As a respected retailer and someone who is well known by other shop owners and managers, Carol will be a proactive representative in the chamber for her particular part of the town centre and the committee are very pleased indeed to have her on board”.
